Before we move forward, let go back in time, to before this bathroom was here. We had this long, weird, wood-paneled-70’s-style closet. It was pretty epic. We spent almost 3 years trying to figure out what to do with this odd space. We only had one bathroom upstairs that we were all sharing, so we decided to add another one for the niÑos. The rest of the space backed into our master closet, so we decided to open the wall that connected the weird closet to our current master closet, making it a walk-in master closet. It felt like I just said closet 5,000 times.
Gotta love a good marital compromise. Thus was the case with this medicine cabinet. If you follow my Instagram account @casamochi, you will see how my husband loved the idea of a medicine cabinet because of it’s functionality, whereas I felt that I hadn’t seen any that were visually appealing to me. That’s where this semi-medicine cabinet came in……dun, dun dun dun!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE the warm, teak color, and that it will be very functional for the kids when they get a little older.
When designing the kids’ bathroom, I knew I wanted some color on the vanity. We ended up deciding on Inchyra Blue by Farrow & Ball. The blue/green color gives it a fun “pop.” We also decided on School House Electric for pulls, I love their hexagon pulls.
I had seen herringbone floors from Jenny Komenda’s blog, and I LOVED them, so we did herringbone floors in this bathroom and in the shower niche. The last few things I am still looking for in this bathroom are: soap dispenser, a waste basket, and some decorative things.
