I started this week with a bang by getting food poisoning somehow. My husband was working while I was sick, but my 4-year-old-son definitely stepped into his role of man of the house. Not only did he comfort me by hugging me and saying “Mama, I’m sorry your feeling this way,” he fetched me several things in the midst of my distress, and he also told me to wake him up if I needed anything after he went to sleep. I have never felt so proud to be his Mama. Something else I’m discovering is that it’s ok to try new things and be unapologetic about them. I have been playing around with the idea of starting my youtube channel for several weeks. Everytime I think to start filming a video, I always come up with an excuse. I have decided that it’s something I really want to do, so I’m going to stop caring about what others think, stop making excuses, stop waiting for the train to go by, and do it. That’s it for this week! Hoping to bust out a few other posts next week!
1. Favorite New Shop: Hugh Forte’s Print Shop. Hugh and his wife Sara are our neighbors, and wonderful people! He is a talented photographer, and she is an amazing cook and blogger. We have one of Hugh’s prints, and I can’t wait to put it up! I’ve been meaning to add a gallery wall in the house. If you love beautiful beach, surf, and water prints like we do, run to the shop and grab yourself a print before they sell out!
2. Favorite find from Opalhouse at Target: This pillow. Not only is it only $19.99, I love the color and boho feel. I love black and white, and find myself gravitating towards black and white decor, but I also LOVE colorful things and want to be mindful to purchase and decorate colorfully!
3. Current Favorite Lipstick: Multi-Stick || Papaya I actually received a sample of this in the mail, and it’s all I’ve been wearing. It’s a multi-stick, and is designed for use on the lips, cheeks or eyes!
4. Favorite Pin this week: This backyard party scene I found from Pinterest! It’s so beautiful!!! I’ve been pinning lots of outdoor, kitchen and bathroom inspiration, go check it out!
5. Favorite Podcast this week: This is Fifty with Sheri and Nancy: “Mel Robbins and the 5 Second Rule.” This podcast was the kick in the pants I needed to realize that I need to stop making mental excuses for things. Mel Robbins explains that the 5 second rule is a ” tool for hyper-intentionality, action, and identifying moments in your life where there is tremendous opportunity and joy.” She says everyone makes decisions throughout the day, and it takes your brain 5 seconds to determine if you will take action, or continue with unproductive behavior. I would highly recommend!
